MACROBIOTICS WORKSHOP

Term: 21st of July Time: 5 pm – 8 pm Location: Kmetijska zadruga building

Barbara SršenA mentor Barbara Sršen is a well-known lecturer of macrobiotics. In context with macrobiotics she’s studying what’s food for life and which food gives you energy. Improper diet, along with psychological stress, is guilty for the emergence of disease conditions in our bodies. Macrobiotics is the art of health and long life. It’s a life-view, which leads us to physical, mental and spiritual health, and it also keeps it well maintained.

During the workshop we will learn interesting facts about our body’s functioning, a digestion and a food-metabolism, effects of medicines, energy that different foods have, the polarity of yin and yang in food, effects of life and environment, and the five elements of Chinese traditional medicine and their impact on our lives. A special way of preparing meals from organic, fresh foods with a lot of spices will be the practical part of this workshop. Participants will try macrobiotic food and take home some interesting and delicious recipes.

 

MOSAIC WORKSHOP

Davorin SlanaMentor Davorin Slana has finished High school for design and photography and is currently a student in the last academic year at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. He has also tasted some pleasures of student life on student’s exchange in Italy. He deals with painting, graphics, illustrations, design, scenography and photography. He creates and lives in Ljubljana. His favourite quote by one of the greatest artist of the 20th century, Frenchman Henri Matisse, is "Creativity requires courage".

Mosaic (it. Mosaico, gr. Museios) is a related ornamental or figural image that consists many coloured stones, ceramic or glass flat pieces of various shapes, which are attached with glue or mortar to the surface. At the beginning we will focus on the design and later learn about different techniques of mosaic making and a process of how to distribute pieces, called "andamento". For the surface we will use items such as flower pots, terracotta pots, wooden surfaces, tables. With millenniums old art we will also decorate some old scarp or wall in Metlika.

 

COOKING WORKSHOP

iztok krajncMentor Iztok Krajnc is a cook in a gourmet restaurant in Ljubljana. There he builds up his cooking skills under the guidance of the most well-known Slovenian master chef, named Janez Bratovž. He also had an honor to meet with the greatest living cookgiant - Joel Robuchon, the man with the 26 Michelin stars! Iztok will spoil us with national, Balkan, Mediterranean and exotic Asian foods and teach us how to use humble ingredients to create rich and for eyes pleasing feast!

Yes, we will cook! Workshop participants, passers-by, performers and curious people will be drooling, because it will smell so nice on the square! Taste buds on your tongue and nares will be irritated from exotic and traditional flavors and from sweet-sour and barbecue smells! For those who consider the pan and plate for a canvas, for all who are hungry and for all those who just simply love cooking, it is mandatory to attend this workshop!

 

“CREATE A BENCH” WORKSHOP

tilen sepičMentor Tilen Sepič is finishing industrial design study at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana and is member of design group Rompom. He creates and is gathering experiences in most different shapes of creative participation in field of productive photography, formuling interiors and furnitures, public installations, scene's setting ups, interactive artistic projects and newmedia cultures. Together with workshop's participants he will create an idea of a bench's appearance and design for not only beautiful but also for stable benches. With bare hands we will make benches and have a lot of fun and explore our creativity during this workshop.

During TKNP 2011 a youth exchange "Create space - Make a bench", which is co-financed by the Institute “Movit na Mladina” (program Youth in Action), will be happening. Participants of the exchange will join workshop’s participants. Together we will make 10 benches, which will be donated to the city of Metlika on the final day of the festival and placed on appropriate sites, and thus contribute to the beautiful cityscape and surroundings. The idea for the project has increased in Kud Plac, while a purpose of this association is the revival of an old town, enhancing environmental awareness and creative work.

 

VJ-ING WORKSHOP

boškoMentor Boštjan Božič is an independent cultural worker and a video artist, an author, a performer of video contents and VJ resident in dance clubs and at other musical events. He's a co-creator in a team of video artists in the association Artodoks, which makes video performances and installations and exist already 13 years. He has made series of his own projects and cooperated with well-known artists and institutions. He likes to hand over his knowledge to younger generations, while during that process he’s discovering new manners and approaches on fields of video art.

Participants of workshop can expect to get an entire insight in work of the VJ, from author's work of video clips to performing them and will be in this way find out about all stages of producing VJ's video clips. We’ll be introduced with software for VJ-ing, learn how to handle with a video-mix machine and with midi tools for administrating software. Video material of festival’s environment will be filmed on daily parts of workshop and during night part of workroom it’s going to be projected on castle walls as an audio-visual backdrop to a musical event.

 

MOVIE WORKSHOP

lucijan kranjcMentor Lucijan Kranjc is 20-year-old student at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. He's a photographer and a member of a duet »How Do I Computer« that is known after innovative use of spatial visualizations in live, which are combined with movable pictures.

michaela selmaniMentor Michaela Selmani is the one, who in purple rush chooses a green. She’s a student at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana and a member of “Kud Trajna”. She’s writing a blog, where she’s pouring out her feelings in shape of prose and poetry and adores a view through a lens of a camera.

In a connection with Photography workshop 1, participants will learn about basics of art components and discover techniques for making a movie. We’ll film a short movie on theme of activities in creative daily workshops on festival TKNP. Movie’s premiere will be on the final day of the festival.

Participants of photographic workshop 1 with initial program, will learn about photographic equipment, its functions and basic art components and techniques of photography. With the gained knowledge we will be making photos on theme of creative workshops and evening program. At the end of the workshop we’ll do a consultations on taken photos.

Jurij PucMentor Jurij Puc is a Slovenian and an Argentinian in one person. He’s a world traveller and once a student of architecture, but he has continued studying and has graduated at Film Academy FAMU in Prague. Nowadays he’s a lecturer and consultant for photography at Higher school of applied sciences in Ljubljana. He aims for increasing standards of photographic medium and he deals with art theory, visual communications, design and 3D animation.

Already on TKNP 2010 Jurij was passing full basic knowledge to young talented photographers, who were 24/7 enthusiastically pressing buttons on their cameras and taking photos. This year an upgrade of in a last year gained skills will follow, therefore we are inviting in this workshop everyone who has experiences with photography and would like to learn besides little ticks also great secrets of photography as „photoshop“ is. In assembly of workshop a „photo session“ with special and beautiful lady, who’s going to flirt with your zooming lens. Is this enough catchy or not?


WORKSHOP OF ORIENTAL DANCE

sanela hajdićOriental-belly dancing has roots somewhere under Egyptian pyramids. This dance is also known under name “raqs sharqi”, which means “dance from Orient”. During pharaoh’s era, women had with rotation of their bodies achieved ecstatic conditions and that was called an obsession with energy of Hator, the goddesses. Mentor Sanela Hajdič has already four years of hard oriental dance trainings behind and today she’s intensively focusing on training ‘tribal fusion’ style of oriental dance. With her dance she wants to give and show people symbiosis of energies, creativities and ideas of a dancer, which is sunk in a mystic experience and in that stage of mind we start to realise a body is a main instrument for creating a visual image of music.

The dance is about female fertility and her relationship with a body. Initially we will learn some basic movements for shoulders, arms, neck and chest area. Then we will perform movements for abdominal and back muscles, known as belly dancing, followed by exercises with emphasis on hips and legs, because this is most important for the dance. We will increase placement awareness and movement of dancers in the room, add ornamental gestures and through the choreography combine all won knowledge into a meaningful whole, which will be presented at the final evening.

 

ETHNO-FOLKLORE WORKSHOP

filisMentor Filis Sinanoska is a Macedonian girl and she’s from Skopje. She’s been living in Slovenia for the last year and is finishing a study of ethnomusicology. In the field ethno-organologics and ethno-coreologics she has extensive knowledge and experiences. She is also a music theorist and teacher.

On this workshop participants will learn how to dance Balkan folk dances, sing songs and through these ethnological traditions learn about other cultures and traditions and identify the emergence of certain songs and dances.
With hand in hand we will conclude a 'kolo', lubricate reeds for more beautiful singing vocal and through dance, music and songs travel across Balkans.

 

COMICS WORKSHOP

stripMentor Domen Finžgar and Matej Kocjan – Koco are part of legendary magazine Stripburger’s team. At the beginning this magazine wanted to unite comics, photography, graphics, film and music, but has later become a true comics magazine. Matej is a graduated teacher of art class and he guides workshops of comics. Beside publications within foreign and Slovenian magazines, he also released an independent album and comics picture-book ‘Cat Omar’. Domen is a young comics artist, a workaholic, a game designer and a musician. He has already received many awards for his comics. In his spare time he loves to dance tango and mountaineering in Slovenian Alps.

2-daily Stripburger's workshop is assigned for beginners and offers a complex insight in comics creativity. Workshop scopes a short lecture about history of comics, a presentation of a working process (dramaturgy, visualization, sketches, setting up on page, black&white production) and possibility of usage of contemporary graphics media, a realisation of comics jam session and making your own mini comics.

 

SKATING WORKSHOP

kriza teamTo adrenalin addicted and spontaneous boys from sport's association 'Kriza' from Novo mesto will be teaching us wacky skating tricks! All along high school this guys were making their mothers nervous, because they were totally in extreme sports like driving BMX, skating, snowboarding… Today they're devoting their lives only to skating. Also their love for skating was caught on film-tape, they're making 5th movie 'Kriza', which shows skate tricks, art and lifestyle shots. They organise competitions in sport's park on Loka in Novo mesto.

Do you have a skate? No? No need to panic, join us anyway! A dose of testosterone and adrenalin will run us up on slopes, bars, through barriers and stairs! Fakie, flip tricks, slides, grinds, pivot, tailside, kickflip, nose of the boards, lip tricks, quarterpipes…At the beginning shy steps, bruised knees, hunting your balance, but with persistence and effort you can come far with your skate skills!

 

GRAFFITI WORKSHOP

grafitIn year 2001 gathered team Zek Crew with 9 color-loving enthusiasts, will be introduced to you by 5 pioneers of Slovene street art: Aleš Arnež, Žiga Aljaž, Miha Artnak, Žiga Artnak and Marko Potočnik. They sacrifice for their graphics, matrix, illustrations, images a lot of hours of their spare time. For their work they've received awards on DOS, SOF and Brumen Grand Prix award. They’re connecting inventiveness, humor and unexpectedly ideas in modern graffiti styles, but they don't forget to leave some traditional trace.

We will inform ourselves with history of creating art with sprays and forms, learn how to draw graffiti, learn about materials, technicians and small secrets of spraying that contribute to better final result. Every individual will actively cooperate with a member of Zek Crew team within all processes from idea to realisation of graffiti. This time we will definitely leave permanent seal on Metlika's gray and lonely walls!


JAM SESSION WORKSHOP

Term: 21st of July – 23rd of July Time: 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm Location: Stage behind castle

jamsession intruderMentors of this workshop are going to be Serbian music group Intruder. The band started their career at the beginning of 90's. They have experimented a lot with electronic music and with it's subgenres like techno and drum'n'bass at that time. Today they're composing electro-pop music, which is by its structure very emotional, jazzy and atmospheric and has an energetic sound.
We'll do a jam session with members of group Intruder. Jam session is a musical action, proper for mutual socializing of musicians, who gathered eachother with intention to play improvised music without preliminary arranging. Jam session is used in a manner of developing a new musical material and is encouraging musical creativity and creativity of young people. Let's jam!

 

 

 

We take a lot of care for children from kindergarten and primary school. That's why during summer holiday we invite them to participate on creative workshops for the youngest, where they can curl their brains, peer outside of their mind frames, develop skills and afford their parents a few hours of relaxation.

"IN MANY WAYS" CREATIVE WORKSHOP

Jelena Dragutinović and Tea Judnič are part of collective Miss Alota Trash, where they unite creative workshops with recycling. Mentors have had exhibitions in Gallery Tukad Munga in Ljubljana and on WTC Festival in Celje's castle. For years they've been making scenography for feministic festival »Rdeče zore« and also have cooperated on feministic festival »Vox feminae« in Zagreb.

Trash can be useful and this creative workshop that goes together in hand with recycling will prove this. From waste materials, old objects, damaged products, paperboard, plastics will children create art. With this amusing approach youngest will get greater awareness for keeping our planet Earth safe. Child's imagination will be encourage in a direction, that they we'll see something more out of trash and from them they will alone make some useful products.


"FAIRYTALES WITH KOČO" WORKSHOP

kočoBostjan Kočevar, as known as Kočo, has a free spirit! In his free time he becomes a writer of poetry and prose, participates in reading marathon, on meetings with poets and attends on performances in south-east of Slovenia. He has been writing poetry since he was 8 years old and today he’s publishing his poetry in various journals and collections by Literary club Metlika. As a founder of the society Collector he is also a collector and numismatist.

When in famous cartoon bunnies brush their teeth, then it’s time for unusual fairytales! These are Kočo's fairytales full of mysterious, but not severe ghosts, and ful of coloured clouds, sweet small houses and sudden cries of joy and strange cries of surprises, that will sink our Metlika's offsprings into the ocean full of imagination and swing them in deep sleep.


WORKSHOP OF BALLET

majaMaja Pruščević is a local. After finishing a primary school in Metlika, she continued with education on the Artistic high school, dance program, where she was developing her gift for dancing. Now she has been studying Slovenian language at Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana and has been training dance called "reggeaton". But she always loves to return to her first love, to ballet steps, that take her away to fairy world again and again.

Ballet (it. ballo – dance) is kind of a dance, in which slim girl with a fig stapled in her hair next to musical accompaniment steps lightly on her toes as a roe-deer and it looks like as if she floats above stage on a soap bubble. Did you know that once upon a time horses were performing in ballet? Ballet is great for complete physical and mental development of a child.
On workshop we will get dressed up in a “tutu” and learn about elements of classical ballet. Through exercises on the floor (for an enhancement of muscles and stretching) and at the bar (demi plie, battement tednu, passe par terre) we will get skills for creativity, movement, sentimentality and precisely pose.

 

 "LIVING WITH RIVER KOLPA" WORKSHOP

Attendance: max. 10  Participant's age: 9 – 15 years

sara milkovicjaka šikonja Sara Milković and Jaka Šikonja have this years finished primary school in Metlika very successfully! Next years of education they will spend at High School Črnomelj. Their favourite school objects are chemistry and physics. They will both lead sub-workshop "a chemical analysis of water". A group of participants will go to a river Kolpa and capture samples of water and make a chemical analysis of water. With a small help from internet we will find out, what water's measurements mean and make a presentational poster with results.

dinaDina Pruščevič is student at Faculty of Education, where she studies biology and chemistry. As a high-school girl on High school for medicine she gained several life experiences. She likes watching nature and she adores dancing. On this workshop, oriented in biology, participants will search for plants and animal species on certain ground-area. We will try to find out for therapeutic effects of these plants and learn about their usage. Also, we'll find out what's an intention of animal organisms in water and earth.
Spoznali bomo, kako se lomi svetloba v vodi, da se žarek svetlobe s pomočjo vode da ukriviti, da lahko kapljico vode uporabimo kot povečevalno steklo in da ima naša reka Kolpa ogromno moč. Kolikšen pretok bo imela to poletje, bomo izmerili sami.

peter štubljarA local boy Peter Štubljar is a professor of physics and technology. He teaches on primary school in Kamnik. The river Kolpa and its phenomena and characteristics aren't foreign to him. On this workshop participants will do experiments with water. We will find out how light is refracted in water, how a sun-ray can be bent, how can we use drop of water as a magnifying glass and that our river Kolpa has enormous strength. How big flux will it have this year, we'll find out by ourselves after we measure it.
